The National Flower of Vietnam

Updated: Sep 2, 2020

In 2011, lotus was officially appointed the official flower of Vietnam because of its elegant appearance and beautiful meaning.

Despite being grown in muddy ponds, lotus blooms gorgeously without being tainted. Therefore, it symbolizes pure beauty that is not spoiled by mud, showing the perseverance of Vietnamese people who are strong and determined despite hardship and adversities.

Because of its meaning, lotus was also chosen as the logo of Vietnam Airlines, the national airline of the country. The flower also plays a significant part in every day lives of Vietnamese by being used as the ingredient for tea, for various dishes, and for medicine.
